Marketing Lessons From Disney Movie Zootopia

Having a toddler means watching the same movie or cartoons & musicals a 100 times!! Zootopia by Disney+ Hotstar is one such movie in our household.

My son calls it - Bunny Fox movie. The two main characters & how they go from distrusting each other to becoming an incredible team.

Here's my take on the lessons from the movie & HOW you can use them to grow your E-Commerce Store.

  • Follow Your Passion -

Judy (the bunny) wanted to become a cop since she was a kid & became the first one ever bunny cop in the force.

In your online boutique, it's essential to identify & connect with your audience's passion & interest. You've got to be excited not just about the products you are selling BUT also excited to connect with the people WHOM you are selling to.

Ex - If you don't know the passion & interest of the people you are selling those summer dresses - do they like to travel? Go to beach? Go for brunches? Watch sunset or sunrise? How will you create content to connect with them?

No connection = No sales.

  • Go beyond the societal norms -

In Zootopia you can be anyone you want to be.

Same goes for your business. You maybe running a clothing boutique or a home decor boutique just like everyone else BUT you don't have to do what everyone else is doing. Think outside the box, find innovative ways to set yourself apart from other boutiques. Create your own UNIQUE Brand.

  • Build Trust & Credibility -

Judy (the bunny cop) asks Nick (the fox) to help her with the investigation but he doesn't trust her abilities due to his past experiences. However Judy with her effort & integrity gains his trust.

Same goes for your online store. You want people to buy from you? You have to earn their trust & build your credibility. Utilizing customer reviews and testimonials, offering transparent and secure payment options, and providing excellent customer service will establish trust with your audience. This will encourage repeat purchases from your customers and positive word-of-mouth referrals.

  • Authenticity -

The characters are always true to who they are, their personality & values.

Similarly, it's important to have truth & authenticity in your store. Sharing your values, mission, brand story, talking about WHY you started your biz through your website, social media & content will help you build a strong community & grow your business.

  • Personalisation & Customization -

Zootopia is divided into multiple districts that cater to different animals like Sahara Square or Rainforest District because not everyone is the same.

Same goes for your E-Commerce store. It's important to have personalization in your strategy to cater to your audience.

Ex - Having segments in e-mail marketing - one for people who've purchased for you, one for those you haven't.

Meeting your customer/potential customer where they are will not only help you grow your business but also get repeat customers.
