Custom Merchandise May NOT Be Right For You

#newsflash Custom Merchandise may NOT be right for you!

There I said it!

You have an idea for a cool line of journals or spiral notebooks.... maybe you’ve even written down 100s of quotes (borrowed & original) somewhere.. but if you haven’t taken action yet... you know there’s something stopping you!

You sure it’s right for you??! Isn’t that why you still on the fence?

Wondering if it’s right for you or whether it’s worth the effort??!

Custom merchandise not only help you create a UNIQUE & exclusive collection in your store, but it also helps you STAND OUT from your competitors selling in the same niche!

But is it your cup of tea??! Let’s find out using the pointers below —

1️⃣ Do you have an “area of genius”?

Just like you need a narrow niche to run a profitable boutique, you need a tribe to start your merchandise line! T-shirt’s & mugs have become very common.... if you want to add them to the store you’ve to think out of the box!

Ex. — Spiritual Gangster is known for its high vibe, comfy, spiritual T-shirt clothing collection. Another example is of a boutique I came across (can’t recall the name! ) online that sells T-shirts with Christianity verses.

So can you think of something special to offer to your tribe?

Maybe you can go beyond the t-shirt & add other custom merchandise like — baby clothing, funny socks, hats, travel mugs, etc.

2️⃣ Do You enjoy designing?

A major aspect of starting a custom merchandise store is knowing how to design! If your words are too small or too big... or too grainy/hard to read.. you’ve got a problem! Do you have an eye for design?

You don’t necessarily NEED to know how to design to get started but you need to be resourceful & willing to outsource or search designs in order to create your products!

3️⃣ Do you have a budget to outsource?

If you not a designer or have the necessary software to DIY you can still start a line by outsourcing the designs! It’s a bit of investment but if done right, it can generate high ROI. If you said yes.. it’s definitely right for you!

4️⃣ Are you willing to learn?

If you can’t DIY atm or have $$ to outsource, your next best option is — being willing to learn! Not just the designing part but the specifics of starting of running a custom merch store!

Print-on-demand companies have a specific requirement of design size & placement when it comes to creating the perfect product for your customer. If you submit a design that’s too small, it will look grainy and distorted on the final product. If you submit one that’s too big, it may be cut off and look odd on the finished product.

Are you willing to learn?

Custom merchs are high in demand because it helps you create a unique brand, provides something that no other boutique carries and if you service-based biz help you increase brand awareness! But at the same time if not done right can lead to loss of money, time & effort!
